Saburo Inui was Born in Taiwan, Hsinchu City in 1911. Working as a designer he was also a Ministry of Commerce and Industry Crafts Instructor. In 1973 he was awarded a Yutaro Kunii Industrial Crafts Prize. He designed many pieces for the furniture maker Tendo Mokko. Established in 1940 in Tendo, Japan, a town famous for wood work, especially chess pieces, the company was a pioneer in plywood
